JANUARY 2019 - MAY 2019 FORM Y TRANSPORTATION DESIGN
The goal of this project was to develope and demonstrate craftsmanship in woodworking. For this we turned to the complex task of creating a working bike frame in wood. We wished to create unique, functional piece and push the boundaries of a wooden bicycle.
Leading lines and continous shapes keep the flow of the bicycle toegether. Our design features very small curves and details that are crucial to our design. The frame design is meant to stand out in a relaxed and reserved manner.
Building Form Y began with premlimanry blue foam frames. Each member of the team was tasked to create a frame based on the top designs from the ideation process. After a form was established, we had to plan every single cut, angle, and joinery that would allow the bike to go toegether perfectly. Once drafting was finalized, the construction of bike was no longer creating a rough outline byt shaping perfect outlines to the thousands of an inch.
